How to Fix a Samsung TV Without Sound (Just do this one thing.)
How to Fix a Samsung TV Without Sound : The sound on most Samsung TVs eventually stops working or no sound comes out for some reason. Samsung TV owners report numerous cases of this problem – some say they have been dealing with it for years!
There is an easy fix for Samsung TV sound problems that should resolve about 80% of them.
What to do if your Samsung TV doesn’t have sound
You need to reset your Samsung TV if it is not playing sound. Remove the power cord and wait 60 seconds. After waiting for 60 seconds, hold the power button for 30 seconds. Reconnect your TV after a minute. The TV will be soft reset and the sound will be restored!
Turn off Samsung TV by unplugging it
The easiest way to fix the problem is to unplug the Samsung TV from the wall socket. It is important to wait the full 60 seconds. You should wait for at least a minute before plugging it back in. The Samsung TV’s power button must be held for 30 seconds while unplugged. Check that you are holding the power button on your TV, and not your remote!
Plug in the Samsung TV’s power cord again
Plug this back in after leaving it unplugged for about 60 seconds. Make sure the connection is snug when you plug it back in. Your TV must have a tight connection – a loose connection will cause the TV to lose power. Use the power button on the TV, not the remote, to power on the TV with the power cord plugged back in. You should be able to hear the sound again once the TV comes back to life. Reconnect ALL connections to your TV while you’re back there reseating the power cord!
Update your TV’s software
Keeping a Smart TV up-to-date is essential so that it works correctly. In other words, if you don’t keep track of your TV’s software upgrades, it will cause all kinds of problems. For example, it might be unable to play audio. It’s just a matter of finding the latest firmware update for your TV model.
- Go to Settings.
- Select the option Support.
- Now, go to Software Update.
- Select the Update Software option.
You will automatically receive updates for your TV. Your TV will let you know when it’s done once the process has been completed.
Ensure Samsung Sound Output is set to “TV Speaker”
There is a setting that can turn your TV speakers off, believe it or not. You can use this when using a sound-bar, for example. The Samsung TV will not have sound when you are not using a sound-bar, and your TV speakers are not on! By pressing MENU or HOME on your remote, you can ensure your TV speakers are ON. Select SOUND from the SETTINGS menu. Choose TV SPEAKER, then SOUND OUTPUT. Please make sure TV SPEAKER is selected!
Run a sound diagnostic test
You can now run a sound test on your TV if you selected the TV Speaker appropriately. Use the HOME or MENU buttons on your remote. You can start the sound test by going to SETTINGS > SUPPORT > SELF DIAGNOSIS. You will need to reset your Samsung TV’s sound if this test detects a problem. Go to the settings over sound, then to expert settings, then to RESET SOUND.
Factory reset Samsung TV
You should factory reset your television if you are still experiencing sound issues. For older models, press Settings > Support > Self Diagnosis > Reset, then press the Home button on your remote to return to factory settings.
The PIN of your TV can be reset easily with your remote control if you forgot it. In order to reset your PIN, press the following buttons on your remote control in the order indicated while the TV is on.
Samsung TV factory reset without remote
You can still factory reset your Samsung TV if you don’t have access to the remote for whatever reason. Locate your TV’s power button and press it. It could be on the right hand side, the left hand side, or at the bottom of your device, depending on the model. The TV must be on to access the Reset menu. Press the Menu button on the TV and select Settings > General > Reset.
If you have a Samsung TV, you should consider directly connecting a USB keyboard. Using the keyboard, you will be able to navigate and reset your TV. You can also download the Samsung SmartThings app to your smartphone if you have a Samsung Smart TV.
Your smart phone can act as a remote control of your TV after connecting it to the app. Finally, if you still can’t use a Samsung remote, you can use a universal remote and enter the appropriate Samsung code. If your sound issue has not been fully resolved at this point, I have included some additional steps that you might try before giving up.
